If you’re ever wondering why Golden should be a destination on your list, we can assure you the opportunities for adventure are endless!

Whether you’re looking for a high intensity, adrenaline pumping activity, or the more scenic, relaxing, exploratory type, Golden has it all.

Here are our recommendations for the top 5 activities you should come and experience.

Crisp, glacial fed waves.

We’ll start with what we know best. It’s true that we may have a slight bias, but the Kicking Horse River is renowned for a reason. With some of the best white water in Western Canada, it’s a great opportunity for first timers or seasoned rafters alike.

If white water isn’t your thing you can take a beautiful scenic float trip on the Blaeberry River, or if 1 day isn’t enough there are 2 Day rafting trips on the White River.

Skydiving in Golden BC

We honestly don’t think you could find a more spectacular spot to jump from a plane. 360 degrees of huge mountain peaks makes the view almost as amazing as the jump itself. With the Rockies to the east, the Selkirks to the west and the Purcells right below, the panoramic view of peaks and valleys is beyond impressive. And that’s only the beginning – falling from 12 500 feet provides a rush like no other!

Paragliding in Golden BC

Mount 7 in Golden is one of the best spots in the world for paragliding. The wind currents in the valley create great flying conditions and it’s from this spot that the world record was set for the longest flight.
We feel like paragliding is the closest feeling you can get to flying. Coasting through the air, weightless and calm – it’s a very cool feeling!

The Golden Golf Club is a bit of a lesser known attraction here – but likely not for long. It was awarded the PGAs #1 Hidden Gem Award in 2014 so word is getting out. Experience a world class golf experience. Enjoy 18 holes and take in the spectacular view of the surrounding rivers and mountain peaks.

If speed is your thing, an ATV tour around the mountainside might be just what you’re looking for. Drive yourself up to a lookout for a great view of the town and valley below. You can make it a full day affair if you’re keen to explore, or kick up some dirt for a couple of hours if you’re on more of a time crunch.

It’s difficult to pick only 5 when we could probably have a list of 25, but come to Golden and create your own ideal adventure. You could consider horseback riding, hiking, fishing, cross country mountain biking, downhill mountain biking, Via Ferrata, the Grizzly Bear Refuge, camping or visiting the 6 surrounding National Parks.
