Ryan has performed many different roles at Glacier over the last 14 years. Starting out as a guide and river manager, Ryan is now the proud owner. Guiding is still his passion, but on any given day you can see him taking reservations, driving the bus, barbequing at lunch or chatting with guests. An accomplished snowboarder and videographer, Ryan has happily found his home here in Golden.
We’re A Tight Team
With the majority of our staff returning year after year, everyone at Glacier Raft Company is more like family than a group of colleagues.
Given the whitewater rafting knowledge, experience and passion, as well as the professionalism and camaraderie, we’re extremely proud of our crew.

Carmen will be the first smiley face you see when you arrive. As the office manager she's in charge of many aspects of the Glacier show, and she’s always there to help in any way she can.
Carmen moved to Golden planning to stay for a ski season, but quickly realized she didn’t want to leave. From skiing and skating, to biking and hiking Carmen loves being outdoors as much as she can.
Mike is one of the newest member of our team, having worked with us for the past 5 years. You would think he has been with us for a lot longer given his knowledge of the river and camaraderie with the crew. He’s an exceptional kayaker and has spent the past few winters working in Argentina and New Zealand as a raft guide, and paddling in Ecuador and India. He recently graduated from U Vic, and we couldn’t be happier to have him back on the river this summer.
Lead Senior Guide

It’s hard to find a happier guide! Jair has been with us for 8 years now, and you can always count on him for a smile. Jair has an impressive amount of energy and he’s incredibly handy. From wood working and sewing to automotive repairs, we’re always turning to Jair for something. He has recently constructed a beautiful yurt where he lives off the grid with his family in the Blaeberry Valley.
Darren is a solid member of our crew. Having worked with us on the Columbia River and Toby Creek in Fairmont Hot Springs, he has now found his way north to Golden for his 3rd year on the Kicking Horse. His river sense, positive outlook, sense of humour and humble demeanour makes Darren an awesome guy to have around. You might even recognize his face from a popular Canadian television show… The first season of Amazing Race Canada!
This will be Kris’ 6th year working on the Kicking Horse, but he has been guiding for many more with experience on the Kootenay River and Toby Creek. Kris has worked with River Watch which is a program that provides educational river trips for school students, and he is a very positive presence in our community. From organizing events to planning festivals, Kris brings a lot of life to our town.
This is Mike's first year working with Glacier, but he has spent the past 3 summers guiding on the Chilliwack and Thompson River.
Mike loves snowboarding, mountain biking, cycling, kayaking, climbing, travelling, gardening and yoga, and he's happy to be back on Golden for the location and outdoor culture. We're happy to have him as a new member of our crew!
Although Lawrence is a rookie to Glacier this summer, he has years of experience raft guiding in the Yukon Territory.
He has spent the last four winters in Victoria, splitting his time between completing a Biology B.Sc and exploring the rivers of Vancouver Island in a whitewater kayak.
New to town, Lawrence is excited to become a Golden local, and we're excited to have him join the Glacier Crew!

Chad has been with us for the past 13 years. His experience and river sense make him an invaluable member of the Glacier team, and he’s always watching out for his guests to make sure they have the best day possible. Chad spends his winters on Vancouver Island where he just finished his degree in Social Work. An avid reader and hockey enthusiast, Chad’s presence is irreplaceable.
Gord is back! Gord spent time guiding with Glacier back in 2008, and he is returning for this summer.
A seasoned raft guide, swift water rescue instructor, paramedic and all round safety conscious guy, we're stoked to have him back on our roster.
Liz is known as the Godmother because of her 18 years of experience guiding on the Kicking Horse River. She grew up on the water, as her family used to own Glacier. Liz is now the proud mom of two handsome boys, and she’s our guest star on busy weekends when we need a few more guides to help out. We always look forward to the days when she’s around!
Eric keeps everyone at Glacier in line. Our primary driver and master chef for the past 5 years, Eric makes sure things are running smoothly. From logistics and scheduling, to organizing and cooking, Eric is thorough and efficient and we love having him around.
Nathaniel has been driving with Glacier for 2 seasons. He has a positive personality and always sees the best in people.
He has a beautiful wife Brittany and 7 month old son Judah. Nate grew up in Clear Hills County Alberta on a cattle ranch, but has lived in Golden since 2010. He loves spending time with friends and family, snowboarding, bmx and calisthenics.
Laura is a ball of positive energy. Always cheery and enthusiastic, being around Laura makes everyone feel happy. Guests often comment how pleasant it is dealing with her, and we couldn’t agree more. Her smile and laugh are infectious and when you meet her we think you’ll know why. This is Laura's third summer with Glacier.
Angela loves Golden! This is her first season with Glacier but she's recently purchased a house here in town. She works at Mountain Sports Distribution in the winter months and really enjoys the outdoors. She'll be one of the friendly folks you meet when you call, email or arrive for your rafting trip!
This is Mareike's first summer with Glacier and we're happy to have her onboard.
She will be starting her final year of Anthropology with a Double Minor in Art History and Education next fall, and she enjoys spending time weaving, learning languages and hiking.
Originally from Germany, Mareike loves spending time in the outdoors and she's excited to be in Golden for its fun atmosphere and beautiful scenery.
