As many of you have likely heard, we’ve spent the winter dealing with the issue of CP Rail denying us access to the Lower Canyon of the Kicking Horse River.
For those who aren’t familiar with the Lower Canyon, it is an amazing stretch of river that starts off with a 4 km stretch of continuous class 4 whitewater. It flows through a beautiful tight canyon and ends with a float through Golden, BC.
We are very happy to announce that we did come to an agreement and rafting will run as normal this summer. Woohoo!
Our opening day is May 21st and the river is looking great. With all the hot water we’ve had the river is coming up quickly!
We also have a community celebration planned for this Saturday April 30th, 2016 to celebrate CPs decision to work with us and allow us access to the river we love so much. It’s also an opportunity for us to thank everyone who supported us throughout this journey – it was definitely a community effort!
We will be offering a free float through the Town of Golden, starting at the Golden Municipal Campground.
The float will end at Spirit Square where we will have a barbecue and live music.
If you are in the area this weekend we would love for you to join us. We’ll be meeting at the campground at 11:00 a.m. and will be starting the float shortly after.
